Systems
Supercomputing Hardware and Software
Supercomputing facilities allow researchers to perform complex calculations to help them to advance in their research in several fields like theoretical chemistry, bio-molecular modeling, physics, computer science and numerical methods applied to engineering and Earth sciences. To do so, CESCA offers to its users a wide variety of computing resources and specialized software.
The Drug Design Service offers a set of tools extensively used in computational chemistry to predict, guide and build molecule models, as well as its interactions and properties. These features provide to users a way to build knowledge-based drug design.

Information Repositories
Tesis Doctorals en Xarxa (TDX), Dipòsit de la Recerca de Catalunya (RECERCAT) and Revistes Catalanes amb Accés Obert (RACO) are three open-access cooperative repositories containing thesis, working papers, and scientific, erudite, cultural and Catalan journals, respectively. These repositories are a mechanism to offer high visibility to indexed documents, being a benefit both to their authors and universities and research centers where they have been produced. Moreover, they also facilitate a better diffusion of the research activities produced in Catalonia.
Furthermore, CESCA hosts university and Information Society related portals and databases of those institutions belonging to the consortium as well as those connected to the Anella Científica, in order to enhance and secure its access.

Dissemination of Our Activities
CESCA also spreads out the benefits of new information and communication technologies through its Teraflop journal, its website, and other communications media.
The Center also opens its doors twice a year, offering guided tours to its installations, which include a visit to its Supercomputing Technological Museum, and lectures to explain its activities.

Communications
The Catalan Scientific Network
The Anella Científica is the high-speed communications network, created by the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) in 1993 and managed by CESCA, that connects universities and research centers in Catalonia. The network is connected to RedIRIS, the state research network managed by Red.es. Through RedIRIS, it reaches the most advanced international research networks: the pan-European Géant2, the American Internet2, the Canadian CA*net-4, etc.

Network Services: Eduroam and Security
The Anella Científica offers a wide range of additional services such as Eduroam and Security.
Eduroam, an initiative launched by TERENA, facilitates the mobility of European researchers and students. Users of the institutions that are Eduroam members have access to the internet via the (wireless) networks of the other participating institutions.
CESCA also provides security support to institutions as well as coordinated response services when security incidents like malicious code infection or denial of service attacks occur.

Training in New Technologies
CESCA realizes formation activities in new information and communication technologies to explain its benefits and promote its use by means of conferences, seminars and courses.
It also celebrates conferences and meetings like the Trobada de l'Anella Científica (TAC), the Trobada dels Serveis Informàtics de les Universitats de Catalunya (TSIUC) and the Jornada Catalana de Supercomputació (JOCS).
