Biblioteca de Catalunya (Library of Catalonia) updates PADICAT website in order to increase the participation and facilitate the access to Arxiu Web de Catalunya (Website Archive of Catalonia)

The inauguration of the new PADICAT (Patrimoni Digital de Catalunya, -Digital Patrimony of Catalonia-, www.padicat.cat), which includes 44,000 institutions' and companies' websites of Catalonia, coincides with the National Day of Catalonia and the fifth anniversary of its creation, September 11th 2006.

The new website's goal is to increase user's participation and facilitate the access to the Arxiu Web de Catalunya digital collection, which provides open access to 44,374 Catalan internet websites.

This updating has been carried out with the cooperation of Centre de Serveis Científics i Acadèmics de Catalunya (CESCA), PADICAT's technological partner, and Optimyzet and Ymbra enterprises.

PADICAT contains 195,547 ancient versions of 44,374 websites from all kind of companies and institutions, media and personal blogs. Overall, 300 million computer files holding 10 TB volume.
