Obacs, Altix 3700 Bx2 of SGI, switched off

The supercomputer Altix 3700 Bx2 of SGI, obacs, was definitely switched off in the end of April. It had been installed in February of 2005, and replaced for the new supercomputer SGI Altix UV 1000, pirineus.

Obacs has been a shared-memory machine with 128 processors, 384 GB of memory and 5.99 TB in disk, 819.20 Gflop/s of peak perfomance (Rpeak) and an estimated maximum performance (Rmax) of 720,60 Gflop/s. It has provided a total of 3,357,339 comuting hours.

Pirineus is a shared-memory machine with 224 processors, 6.14 TB of memory and 112 TB of disk storage, a peak performance (Rpeak) of 14.30 Tflop/s and an estimated maximum performance (Rmax) of 12.61 Tflop/s.
